FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this blog for a church or for some other organization?

Nope.  I am solely responsible for the content at this site.  It is not approved or endorsed by any church or organization. That means if there are any errors, it’s my fault.  If you come across one, please tell me.

Why are you doing it?

I started out just sharing Bible reading and comments with a few loved ones, in the hope of us encouraging each other with God’s word.  I was doing it by sending my thoughts on the day’s reading in an email message.  It had not occurred to me that someone might want to share it with others as well.  When I found that to be the case, it began to take a lot more time to write the email, put the right email addresses in the “To:” line, etc.  Also, with the emails getting forwarded to others, I started to worry more about making a scriptural error.   Who might some of those people think the error came from?  I finally decided to try this to see how it works out.  Of course, I certainly pray that others might be led to Christ through some of this.  But even if, after all this effort is done, I don’t manage to plant a single seed that grows,  the Lord has already enriched and blessed me beyond anything I ever imagined would be the case.  I am more amazed at His power, grace, and mercy in my life than I was even before I started.

What sort of religious education and other qualifications do you have?

Absolutely none!  I am just a Christian.  All I know about the Bible is what I have learned from reading it, sermons I have heard over the years, and from the writings of preachers and others that are much smarter than me.  I do pray daily for God to help me to share His word with others in a manner that pleases Him.  I know He listens to my prayers.  That does not mean that He won’t let me make a mistake.  It may be that He will use you to straighten me out on some point or teach me something that I might not otherwise learn!  God works in more awesome ways than we can even imagine.

I’m so behind in the Bible reading that I just don’t see how I can ever get caught up, but I really would like to follow from this point on this year.  What can I do?

A good question.  The answer is – dive in now!  2 Timothy 3:16 says it best: “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness…”  But I do try to keep weekly summaries of the blog on the “Summaries” page  – periodically summarizing a stretch of reading that may be days or even a couple of weeks or more in length, with pointers intended to help you do some catch-up that won’t seem so over-whelming, if that is what you want.  The point is Don’t let yourself get discouraged and quit!  Feeding yourself regularly with God’s word IS what matters.

I have a question that is not answered here.  Can I contact you?

Sure!  Leave a message on the “Contacts” page, and I will respond in a timely manner.
